Shared IP

Network Privacy

Many people appear to have the same IP.

Definition

A shared IP is one IP address used by many people at the same time (common with VPNs and home networks).

In plain English Many people appear to have the same IP.

Why this matters

Why it matters: Shared IPs can reduce linkability, but they can also cause “reputation” problems if others misuse it.

Example

Example: Hundreds of VPN users may exit through the same IP address.
