Overview

Brave is a Chromium-based browser implementing privacy through Brave Shields, a multi-layered protection system. The browser uses filter lists (EasyList, EasyPrivacy, uBlock Origin filters) to block third-party ads, trackers, and cross-site cookies

by default. Storage partitioning isolates website data to prevent cross-site tracking. Fingerprinting protection randomizes browser characteristics including canvas, WebGL, audio fingerprints, and font enumeration. Private windows integrate Tor daemon for IP address anonymity. Brave Rewards uses Basic Attention Token (BAT) on Ethereum blockchain for privacy-respecting ad viewing and content creator tipping. The browser is open source (MPL-2.0) and collects minimal telemetry. Brave is based in the United States (Brave Software, Inc.), a 5 Eyes jurisdiction.
